Physical changes in the elderly are seen in changes in physiological changes that can be regressed. Changes in biological changes experienced in the elderly have a profound effect on their health and psychological conditions.

The appearance of the disease in the elderly is often different from that in young adults. The condition in the elderly is a combination of disorders arising from disease and the aging process.

The main health problems mentioned above that often occur in the elderly need to be known and understood by anyone who has a lot to do with elderly care to provide care to achieve the optimal health status.

First, lack of movement: physical, mental, and environmental factors can cause the elderly to be sedentary. The most common causes are bone, joint, muscle disorders, nervous disorders, heart, and blood vessel disease.

Second, instability: the most frequent result of falls in the elderly is damage to certain parts of the body resulting in pain, fractures, head injuries, burns due to hot water from falling into a bath.

The result of a fall causes the elderly to restrict his movements severely.

Third, incontinence: incontinence of urinating (tub) is one of the problems often found in the elderly, namely the discharge of urine without realizing it. A mismatch is a problem that is often considered normal and expected in the elderly, and even though, in fact, this is not wanted by either the elderly or their family.

Fourth, intellectual impairment: this incidence increases rapidly from age 60 to 85 years or more, that is, less than 5% of the elderly aged 60-74 years experience dementia (severe dementia) while at the age after 85 years this incidence increases to nearly 50%.

Fifth, infection: can be caused by infectious diseases due to malnutrition, decreased immunity, reduced function of various organs of the body, and several conditions simultaneously causing significantly reduced body resistance.

Sixth, sensory, communication, and skin disorders: due to aging, all the senses decrease in function, diseases of the brain, nerves, and muscles used to speak can cause communication disruption, skin becomes drier, brittle, and easily damaged.

Seventh, difficulty defecating (constipation): several factors that make constipation easier, such as lack of physical movement, foods that contain less fiber, lack of drinking, due to the administration of certain drugs, and others.

Eighth, depression: characterized by sadness, unhappiness, frequent crying, feeling lonely, having trouble sleeping, not having an appetite, feeling inferior, reduced self-esteem and self-confidence, feeling guilty and useless.

Ninth, sleep disturbances: sleep disturbances that are often reported by the elderly, namely, it is difficult to enter the sleep process. His sleep is not deep, and he wakes up quickly, and he sleeps many dreams; if he wakes up, it is difficult to go back to sleep, wakes up at dawn, is lethargic after waking up in the morning.

Tenth, decreased immunity: due to the body's reduced ability to produce antibodies in the elderly, the immune system decreases. This makes the elderly vulnerable to various diseases.

The elderly's secret to staying healthy is not stopping activities, keeping moving and looking for busyness, not being monotonous and stuck with routines, and looking for new things that you like. Have a passion for life, have an optical sense, be active, open your horizons, be an argumentative person, and make friends.

Regular physical activity or a structured physical exercise program is highly recommended. It has many benefits such as improving walking, balance, and bone health, which can be obtained through exercises such as exercise for the elderly, anti-stroke practice, both from health workers and by health cadres for the elderly so that the elderly can live a healthy and happy life.
